In a poignant moment during this year’s Rapperholic Rebirth concert at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Sarkodie paid a heartfelt tribute to his late lawyer, Cynthia Quarcoo. Overwhelmed by emotion, the renowned rapper couldn’t contain his tears as he shared the story of his close relationship with Cynthia and her significant impact on his successful career.
Expressing his deep sorrow, Sarkodie reminisced about how Cynthia believed in him when others doubted, approving almost all his songs before their release. He described her as more than family and expressed genuine sadness at her absence, stating that he would truly miss her.
Acknowledging the challenges he faced throughout the year, Sarkodie emphasized the resilience required to move forward. Despite personal difficulties, he felt a responsibility to entertain the audience at the concert, recognizing their positive influence on his career.
The 11th edition of the Rapperholic concert, labeled “Rapperholic Rebirth,” featured a dynamic blend of hardcore rap, singing, choreography, and acrobatics, making it an unforgettable experience. Sarkodie delighted fans by performing a lineup of his hit songs, including “Original,” “Baby,” “Pizza and Burga,” “Oran,” “Borga Borga,” “Megye wo Girl,” and “Rollies and Cigars,” among others.
The energetic crowd further fueled the two-time VGMA Artiste of the Year, enabling him to engage with them for over two hours on stage. Besides Sarkodie, other artists like Efya, Tulenkey, Mr. Drew, Quamina MP, Olivetheboy, Kofi Moley, Maya Blue, Prince Bright of Buk Bak, Bongo Blay, Oseikrom Sikani, and Papi Kojo delivered enjoyable performances.
However, the success of the event was slightly marred by the overcrowded auditorium, causing discomfort for the enthusiastic patrons, reminiscent of previous Rapperholic concerts.
