Ghanaian rapper Denning Edem Hotor, popularly known as Edem Goget’em, is set to release a powerful new song that will serve as a rallying call for action on climate change. The announcement was made during a tree-planting event held at the premises of the Ghana YMCA to commemorate Green Ghana Day 2023.
In collaboration with the Ghana YMCA team and his Personal Road Assist, Richard Mario, Edem actively participated in planting trees across the Ghana YMCA compound and its surroundings. Green Ghana Day, established by Ghana’s President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2021, aims to restore Ghana’s lost forest cover and contribute to global efforts in mitigating climate change.
Edem expressed his commitment to the nation’s development by actively engaging in climate change initiatives as an artist. He unveiled that his upcoming song is specifically designed to raise awareness about the climate agenda and encourage individuals to contribute towards saving the planet.
“I’m thrilled to join forces with the Ghana YMCA in tree planting and creating awareness about climate change. I also want to officially announce that we have a song that will lead the advocacy for global climate change, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, fossil fuel, and more. A big thank you to the Ghana YMCA and everyone planting trees to safeguard our planet” revealed Edem.
Charles Habiah (Esq), National President of the Ghana YMCA, emphasized the organization’s dedication to environmental preservation as a key area of development. He called for increased collaboration to enhance efforts in preserving the planet and stated, “In the Ghana YMCA, we consider afforestation projects as a priority in the climate change agenda. Climate change is significant to us, and we have dedicated time to join this tree-planting exercise. It is said that when the last tree dies, the last man must die. Wherever you are, we invite you to join this campaign, and we are excited to be part of it, contributing our share to saving our planet.”
Cedric Dzelu, Global Climate Change Ambassador for the World YMCA and a featured artist on Edem’s upcoming song, expressed his excitement about the cross-sector collaboration on climate action. He eagerly anticipates leading advocacy efforts through the power of music.
Following the tree-planting event, Edem, through his foundation, The Goget’em Foundation will continue to champion climate action and mobilize stakeholders to enact policies that prioritize the preservation of our planet’s sanctity. Together, they aim to inspire widespread change and create a sustainable future for all.
