Tanzanian music sensation Diamond Platnumz, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, has set his sights on becoming the richest person in the world. During the launch of the Wasafi Festival 2024, Diamond made this bold declaration, expressing his determination to reach the pinnacle of global wealth.
In his speech, he reminisced about a promise he made to schoolchildren, vowing that he would one day own a Rolls Royce, a dream that has since come true. Diamond now believes that his ultimate goal of becoming the wealthiest person on the planet is equally achievable. He declared, “My biggest dream in life is to be the number one richest person in the world.”
Diamond’s Success in Music and Beyond
At 34, Diamond has become one of East Africa’s most influential musicians, consistently producing hit songs for over a decade. He has expanded his influence beyond music, venturing into strategic marketing and high-quality music production. One of his major milestones came in 2020 when he became the first sub-Saharan African artist to surpass one billion views on YouTube. Today, his YouTube channel boasts over 9 million subscribers, a testament to his widespread popularity.
Diamond’s marketing strategies, which include behind-the-scenes content and documentary-style videos, have been lauded by YouTube’s music trends manager, Kevin Meenan, as exemplary for other African artists.
Ambitious Aspirations
While Diamond has big plans, the title of the world’s richest person is currently held by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, with a net worth of over $230 billion. Other contenders include Bernard Arnault of LVMH and Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon. Despite these lofty figures, Diamond remains confident in his ability to not only represent Tanzania but also aim for the top spot in global wealth.
