Pico Shanti

Pico Shanti, born Asare-Addo Paul on May 15th, 1985, in Tudu Accra, is a multi-talented individual who has made a name for himself as an Afro reggae dancehall artist, media practitioner, MC, and professional teacher. His diverse skill set and passion for music have allowed him to carve a unique path in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

Pico Shanti’s musical journey began while growing up in Tudu. He attended Prince of Peace International School in Bubiashie Orgle Road, where he further nurtured his passion for music. It was during his time at La-bone Secondary School that he truly discovered his musical talent and realized his potential as an artist. He completed his secondary education in 2003, marking the first milestone in his pursuit of a career in music.

After completing his secondary education, Pico Shanti enrolled at the Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education to study Education. In 2011, he successfully graduated and embarked on a teaching career within the Ghana Education Service. Alongside his teaching profession, Pico Shanti pursued his passion for journalism, studying Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and obtaining his degree in 2019. He now practices journalism professionally at Ranking Family Multimedia, showcasing his versatility in both the music and media industries.

As an artist, Pico Shanti has had the opportunity to work with various management outfits throughout his career, including Sent One Entertainment and Obibiniba Entertainment. However, he currently operates as an independent artist, allowing him to fully express his creativity and maintain artistic control over his music. Collaborating with talented sound engineers such as Amony-K, Qholabeatz, YJay beats, Kwese Phantom, and currently Shelly Vybz of Jungle Yard Studios, Pico Shanti consistently delivers high-quality productions that showcase his unique style and musical vision.

Pico Shanti draws inspiration from iconic musicians such as Osibisa, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Buju Banton, Capleton, Sizzla Kalonji, and Rocky Dawuni. These influential figures have shaped his musical journey and fueled his greatest wish and dream—to tell the African story in its originality through his Gonggong music from Ghana. With a deep-rooted desire to preserve and celebrate the rich African heritage, Pico Shanti’s music serves as a powerful medium for sharing cultural experiences and inspiring listeners.

Pico Shanti’s dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to his craft have positioned him as an influential figure in the Ghanaian music scene. Through his uplifting and authentic Gonggong music, he continues to make a significant impact and contributes to the vibrant diversity of African music.
